We understand that childcare funding can sometimes feel complicated.
Our team is here to help you understand the options available, explain
how funded hours can be used and find an attendance pattern that works
for your family.
30 hours for working families
Eligible working parents in England may receive up to 30 hours of
funded childcare each week for children aged from 9 months to
4 years.
Eligibility depends on factors including employment, income
and your child’s age.
All children aged 3 and 4 in England are entitled to 570 hours
of funded early education each year. This is usually taken as
15 hours a week for 38 weeks.
The entitlement begins from the term after your child’s third
birthday. Some 2-year-olds may also qualify where the family
or child receives certain forms of additional support.
Old School House Nurseries offer families the option to spread
funded childcare across 51 weeks of the year, rather than limiting
funded hours to the 38-week school year.
Because the total annual entitlement remains the same, stretching
funding means using fewer funded hours each week over a longer period.
This can help create a more consistent attendance pattern for children
and families throughout the year.
The exact number of funded hours available each week will depend on
your entitlement and agreed attendance pattern. Our team will explain
how your stretched funding works and what this means for your child’s
sessions before their place is confirmed.
Tax-Free Childcare
Eligible families may also be able to use Tax-Free Childcare
towards their nursery fees.
For every £8 paid into a Tax-Free Childcare account, the
government adds £2. Families can receive up to £2,000 a year for
each eligible child, or up to £4,000 for a disabled child.
